Reminders

There are many reminders

Yet we remain, outsiders

The way has not closed

The door’s open, exposed

Enchanted, we look away

The display, we hope it’ll stay

The search is on, in earnest

Permanence has not surfaced

The happy easily forget

What they have is a silhouette

There’s an opaqueness

Blinding us to our weakness

The reminders come and go

Unheeded by those who know

The curious are empty and eager

Taking the reminder to go deeper
